2022 International Snowmobile Congress- Dubuque, IA
NSSA President Daryl Holmberg ISC Report
I just got back from another International Snowmobile Congress last week in Dubuque, IA. Attending were Brian & Annie Stahlecker and Colton, Stan & Kate Stutheit, and Jeff & Deb Kracl. It was great to visit with fellow snowmobilers and see all their dedication that keeps our sport alive. There were over 300 in attendance and welcoming back 40 members from Canada that could not attend the 2021 Congress hosted by NSSA in Omaha due to Covid-19. We had some fun activities but also meetings guest speakers and educational breakout sessions. There were four avalanche educations, Women in Snowmobiling Seminar, grant writing, emergency management, and behind the scenes of a Sno-Cross team.
Everybody had an opportunity to play catch, visit and take photos with the Ghost Team the Field of Dreams location on the off-site by Dyersville, IA on Thursday evening. Meetings were held three days with the main discussions were trespassing, aftermarket loud pipes, and getting youth involved in the meeting and on the boards. many trails are being shut down across the country due to trespassing and noise. Also happening across the western states are the new forest service plans being redone. The Sierra Nevada range in California is losing about two-thirds of their riding areas and are afraid this may follow in other states as well. Good news is that snowmobile sales are still looking good for the manufacturers.
